Laura's Fabulous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Laura Sommer taught Relief Society two weeks ago and shared her creative talent for baking by making the most amazing cookies. Several sisters asked her for the recipe. Thank you Laura!

Fabulous Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter, softened (I use real butter, not margarine)
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
chocolate chips/goodies: coconut, nuts, different flavored chips, chopped candy bars, etc

Mix top 5 ingredients until creamy, then add next 3 ingredients. It will form a pretty stiff dough. Add chocolate chips/whatever goodies you want to into the dough. I added 1/2 c. butterscotch chips, 1/2 c. white chocolate chips and 1/2 c. semi-sweet chips and probably about 1/3 c. shredded sweetened coconut. You can add nuts too if you like them. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 8-10 min. I always check on them at 8 min and if they have a little bit of brown on the top then I pull them out and leave them on the cookie sheet for another minute to let them finish cooking and then remove them to the cooling board to cool. Don't over cook--that is the key. Yields about 3 1/2 doz.
